Random Memory #1

Lullabies
I remember singing this song every night at bedtime to my dearest Rush. Oh, how I loved those moments of her snuggling in beside me, under the covers, as I stroked her very blond head and sang to her until she fell asleep. (Jellybean & Bug liked this at bedtime too but not so much as Rush

Dancing Bears, painted wings,
Things I almost remember,
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December

Someone holds me safe and warm.
Horses prance through a silver storm.
Figures dancing gracefully,
Across my memory

Far away, long ago,
Glowing dim as an ember,
Things my heart used to know,
Things it yearns to remember…
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December

We also sang this a lot for bedtime and, although I sang it to my other children as well, I think it will always remind me of Rush.

Morningtown Ride or Train Whistle Blowing

Words and Music by Malvina Reynolds Performed by The Seekers (1966)
Train whistle blowin', makes a sleepy noise
Underneath their blankets go all the girls and boys
Rockin', Rollin', Ridin', out along the bay
All bound for Morningtown, many miles a-way

Driver at the engine, Fireman rings the bell
Sandman swings the lantern to say that all is well
Rockin', Rollin', Ridin', out along the bay
All bound for Morningtown, many miles a-way

Maybe it is raining where our train will ride
All the little trave'lers are warm and snug in-side
Rockin', Rollin', Ridin', out along the bay
All bound for Morningtown, many miles a-way

Somewhere there is sunshine, somewhere there is day
Somewhere there is Morningtown, many miles a-way
Rockin', Rollin', Ridin', out along the bay
All bound for Morningtown, many miles a-way

All bound for Morningtown, many miles a-way

Words cannot even begin to describe the depth of the love in my heart for this young lady and how much these memories mean to me.
